Further research into etiquette, language and fashion of the noughties lead me to a couple of sights of interest. One gave me the most used fashion orientated slang of the noughties. I thought that this put next to images of icons of the past would create a humour in the same way that chap magazine does, putting modern themes onto men of a different era. The change of era is emphasised between the contrasting language and style fashion. I found a website listing the most iconic celebrities of past decades as voted for by the public. This vote would make the pice of a public opinion. I have experimented with drawing the icons that were decided from theire website. I have researched the Icons and chosen poses from photos of when they were first successful. My chosen icons are:
Kate Moss: 1990's
Madonna: 1980's
Debbie harry: 1970's
Bridget Bardot: 1960's
Audrey Hepburn: 1950's
Marlene Dietrich: 1940's
Having researched a bit about the lives of the icons I have arranged the most used fashion slang phrases to be matched up with the icon that it has most in common with.
Kate Moss is Pre-loved in reference to her drug taking
Madonna is boomz as I feel it has similarities to boobs which she was famous partly for her cone bra.
Debbie Harry is inspired in reference to her unique style when she wore no bottom half of clothing on stage.
Bridet Bardot is tim gunn it as she reinvented the bikini...she was confident and wore it like it was the hight of fashion.
Audrey Hepburn is fugly slut, she was considered one of the most beautiful women ever by many.
Marlene Dietrich in all of her photos tend to pull the same mysterious face just like in Zoolander, their pose was called blue steel.
